Blear Lake Animal Hospital Paris Parade

Linda’s lunch box the Grand Prize winner in the Paris parade.

The Fourth of July came once again. Many local traditions were carried on. First, the chuck wagon breakfast in Paris that was started by the Bear Lake Range Riders and was taken over by the Paris City when the Rangers could no longer hold the breakfast. The Montpelier breakfast that was held by Lion’s club for many years but was taken over three years ago by the Rotary Club when the Lion’s declined in numbers. The Rotary Club uses the funds to support the fireworks and community projects.

The Paris Patriotic Program to honor or Veterans was held and attended by many. As always, it had strong attendance and was well done. It is great to see so many community members come together to honor those who defend our freedoms.

The Paris parade went off with no problems and children waited anxiously to see that first entry, Sheriff Heslington with the VFW club carrying our flag waving in the gentle breeze.

The Grand Prize went to Linda’s Lunch Box. First prize in the commercial category was the Bear Lake Animal Hospital with their “Up” Float, second prize to Papa’s Chocolates and third to Bear Lake Motor. The family category was the LaMar Merrill Family, second place, Judy Brown, Sons-In-Law and third the Diane Herman Family

The Youth category was First Place, XMB Dance Studios, second place, Rocky Mountain Springs and third the BLHS and BLMS cheer team.

In the horse category, Nielson Family was first with the Rodeo Queen receiving second and Sheriff Heslington third place.

The best Theme/Patriotic entries were first place VFW, with the second being KVSI, and third Ireland Bank.

With 42 entries it was, and enjoyable parade and the weather cooperated without too much rain.

That night a chilly firework show in Allinger Park finished off the day. What a great place to live. I’m glad we still celebrate with so many of the traditions that have happened in our valley for many years.
